Network Marketing is a business model where you get paid on both sales you generate and, when you qualify, you can get paid on the sales of a team that you build.
A legitimate, ethical, and totally legal Network Marketing business is one that focuses on the PRODUCTS.
If a company is only focusing on anything other than the product SALES to true customers (not Representatives) then it’s NOT a true, authentic, and ethical Network Marketing company.

What does the compensation plan look like?
A compensation plan is the full layout of how you will get paid both on your own sales and on the sales of your team.
It will also explain how you get paid (what quotas, etc., you have to meet) and any bonuses that are available as you move up in rank through the company.
Avon’s compensation plan is rich and full. It is easy to understand and follow to reach your income goals.
When you start inviting others to Sell Avon and start building your own team of Avon Representatives, you will be eligible to earn bonus money through incentives and Leadership Earnings.
You start earning from your first team member. Once that new team member places an order, you have officially started your Avon journey.
With that first new team member, you become a Promoter, and you will earn 3% of your team’s sales.
With just two team members, you promote to Star Promoter, and you will earn that 3% bonus commission from your team’s sales, but you will also earn an additional 3%.
The next level is Bronze Ambassador. For this level, you need three team members who are placing orders, and your commission percentages start to increase.

How established is the company?
When looking for a side hustle, you might be tempted to join a start-up company and that might be fun and exciting but be aware that a company just starting will have a LOT to work out over the years as it grows and attempts to succeed.

Do you LOVE the products?

But I knew they were good products, and so I was willing to try them myself at a Representative discount.

What are the costs involved with joining the company or selling?
Some companies have a monthly fee for the website. Avon doesn’t – as an Avon Representative, you are provided with a FREE Online Store.
Many companies have an annual fee. Are there any other fees or payments required? Find out.
Avon doesn’t. Once you are signed up to Sell Avon, there are never any additional fees to remain a Representative.
Are there monthly sales quotas to meet?
Many companies require you to meet a monthly sales minimum in order to keep the commission status you’ve earned, some don’t.
As an Avon Representative, there is no sales quota.
In order to keep your Avon Representative account open, there is a requirement to place an order at least once every 6 campaigns.
If you have not placed an order for 6 consecutive campaigns, your account will be closed.
But then you can reinstate your account at no charge for up to a year.
However, you will want to at least order brochures for each campaign so you can continue to grow a strong business. After all, it’s kind of hard to sell without any brochures to show. 🙂
Many companies also require your team to meet a sales amount in order for you to get paid a percentage of the full team sales.
This is true with Avon as well.
When you first start recruiting team members and building your Avon team, you will need to sell $50 per campaign (2 weeks) to be paid your commissions.
As you advance up the Leadership Compensation Plan, your sales requirements and your team sales requirements will increase.
But the leadership requirements are very reasonable.

Do you have to buy & distribute inventory?
When You Sell Avon, You Get to Decide How to Work Your Business
Sell to your neighbors; you can take brochures to work and share them with your colleagues.
Work your business around your children and their schedules.
You can make a little spending money or a lot of money by building a huge network marketing team.

Do you have to buy your own inventory?
The great thing about Avon is this is your business, and you get to run it the way that works best for you.

There is no requirement to keep any inventory.
Some Avon Representatives choose to bring in a couple of extra products for spot sales or events they are working on throughout the year.
And some Avon Representatives like to keep inventory on hand so they can sell it on demand.
Personally, depending on your circumstance, I generally suggest you do not keep any inventory.
Your brochures are your Avon Store.
Use your brochures to your advantage and to grow your business.
You have the option to use paper brochures or Avon’s new Digital brochures (these are free).
The more brochures you can get into people’s hands, the more sales, and new customers you will receive.

Is there recurring income potential or additional sales opportunities?
The great thing about skincare and beauty products is customers use them up and need to reorder.
Getting your customers on a skincare routine is the best way to ensure recurring income.
Also, the fact that Avon has a new brochure every two weeks means you have 26 opportunities every year to bring something new to your customer.
In my opinion, this is one of the best business tools Avon offers to its Representatives.
